Jack Pitman, loving husband and father, age 86 of Oxford, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 22, 2020. Jack was born in Knox County, Kentucky on October 30, 1933 to Garrett and Susan (Brunner) Pittman. On June 21, 1952, Jack married the love of his life, Helen (Pierson) Pitman and together they spent nearly 68 years together. Jack was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served in the armored division as a tank commander. After his time in the service, Jack continued to serve in the National Guard. Jack retired from Fisher Body – Fairfield after more than 25 years. Jack was avid outdoorsman and craftsman, capable of building or fixing most anything. He was a talented problem-solver and could create anything he could imagine.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Helen Pitman; his son, Brian (Paula) Pitman, his daughter, Shelli (Steve) Phelps; his daughter-in-law Carol Pitman; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bruce Pitman; his 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services will be private. Memorial donations in Jack’s honor may be gifted to any charity of the donor’s choice.
