James V. "Jim" Arminio

James V. "Jim" Arminio, age 77 of Hamilton, formerly of Fairfield, passed away in Hospice of Hamilton on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 6:12 AM. He was born in Hamilton on July 30, 1931 the son of Angelo and Rose (Carito) Arminio. Jim was a veteran of the Korean War with the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a life member of the Monkey Mutual Aid Society #1, a 50-year plus member of the Italian American Society, was inducted into the Butler County Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 1987, and was employed as a brakeman for B&O/Chessie System Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 1989. Jim enjoyed fast pitch softball, coaching, golfing, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. On October 15, 1955 in Hamilton he was married to Marilyn Wolf, and she preceded him in death in 2000.

He is survived by one son, James Matthew (Mendy) Arminio of Hamilton; one daughter, Lisa (Brian) Beane of Fairfield; two brothers, Joe (Marlene) Arminio of Fairfield and Sam (Judy) Arminio of Hamilton; three sisters, Mary Inforzato of Fairfield, Domma Reece, and Ann (Vernon) Reiter, both of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Mallory, Spencer, Sarah, Zach, and Jacob; and also a devoted companion, Judi DePew of Hamilton; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Larry Tharp, Celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Stephen’s Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of Hamilton or to the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Mercy Hospital of Fairfield, 4 Tower, and Hospice of Hamilton for their loving care and concern.
