James Robert Brandenburg, age 65 of Hamilton passed away at Jewish Hospital on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 5:30 PM. He was born in Irvine, Kentucky on August 30, 1944 the son of Willis and Grace (Johnson) Brandenburg. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed as a production mechanic for General Electric Evendale for 30 years, retiring in 2002. On January 10, 1992 in Hamilton he married Carolyn (Dawson) Rhoden.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Brandenburg of Hamilton; two daughters, Sudie Brandenburg of San Antonio, Texas and Patricia (Corey) Monroe of Hamilton; five stepchildren, Debbie, Stephanie, Steven, Jay, and Sherry Rhoden, all of Cincinnati; a sister, Sue (Troy) Gross of Hamilton; five grandchildren, P.J., Brittney, James, Maggie and Carolyn; 15 step-grandchildren; a nephew, Johnie Gross of Hamilton; and three nieces, Pamela, Rena, and Grace Gross; and his cats Sassy and Nubbin. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnnie Brandenburg; a stepdaughter, Sandy Rhoden; and his beloved cat, C.J.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Sonny Price officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
