James D. Smith

James D. Smith, age 67 of Hamilton, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 6:20 AM. He was born in Manchester, Kentucky on August 10, 1948 the son of Homer and Myrtle (Collins) Smith. James was a 1966 graduate of Reily High School. He was a veteran of Viet Nam with United States Army from 1966 to 1969. James was employed as an independent contractor for numerous years.

He is survived by his wife, Dovie "Pat" Smith of Reily; four children, Duane Sams, Rhonda Sams,Kathrine Smith, and Dustin Hensley his mother, Myrtle Smith of Hamilton; and five siblings, Mae (Keith) Stoller of Van Wert, Ohio, Mable (Denver) Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Curt (Gail) Smith of Reily, Paul (Kym) Smith of Oxford, Charlotte Miller of Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Smith and three siblings, Jerry Smith, CT Smith, and Wanda Hoskins.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Keith Stoller officiating. Burial will follow at Reily Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Condolences can be made at www.browndawsonflick.com.
