James (Jim) Fornshell concluded his full, productive, and happy life on November 2, 2026 surrounded by those he loved most. A lifelong resident of Ohio, Jim raised his treasured family in Ross, Ohio and was active in the community.
Throughout his career, Jim wore many hats and held many titles, all focused on making his community stronger. The majority of his career was spent at Ohio Casualty where he retired after 35 years in 2002. He proudly worked for the Hamilton Police Department and volunteered for the Millville Fire Department, where he also served as a Council Member. Jim owned and operated a small business where he enjoyed seeing friends and regular guests.
Jim was born on August 26, 1940 to Ruth (Mulford) and James Fornshell of Hamilton, Ohio. As a child, he enjoyed spending time near the lake and fishing, traditions he kept throughout his life. He graduated from Hamilton High School, attended Ohio University, and served in the Army National Guard.
Jimbo made every room more fun. His expansive personality and contagious laugh will be missed by those who loved him most, including daughters, Blair (Cincinnati, OH); Brooke and her husband Chris (Murfreesboro, TN); his son, David (Hamilton, Ohio) and his companion and partner Sandy Shelly (Hamilton, OH). He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Luke, Molly and Lila Claire Dittman and brothers-in-law Larry Bailey (Hamilton, OH) and Garry Bailey (Hamilton, OH). Jim is preceded in death and welcomed on November 2 by his beloved wife Sherry Lynn Fornshell, brother Ronald Fornshell, and his parents.
Jim enjoyed playing golf, softball, caring for animals, listening to music, cars, being outdoors, and his annual fishing trips to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was a lifelong golfer and in later years volunteered and made many memories at Twin Run golf course.
Visitation will be held on November 10th from 10 am to 12 pm at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home on 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio with a funeral service from Chaplain Mark Erton. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Thomas V. Sargero Jr, MD and team, as well as the Bella Care team for the excellent care and support.
