James Hancock, age 65 of Hamilton passed away at University of Cincinnati Hospital on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 12:05 PM. He was born in Hamilton on June 7, 1945 the son of Charles and Frances (Gibson) Hancock. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era from 1968 to 1970 and was employed as a CNA at Bear Creek Nursing Home in Clearwater, Florida. He was a member of Full Gospel Mission. On January 1, 1980 in Hamilton he married Patricia Clay.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hancock of Hamilton; a son, Randy Nelson of Hamilton; two brothers, Richard (Mary) Hancock of Blacklick, Ohio and Charles (Buryl) Hancock of Riverside, California; two sisters, Shirley Devers and Connie Smithers, both of Hamilton; his mother-in-law, Gertrude Roberson of Overpeck; two brothers-in-law, Billy (Priscilla) Clay of Fairfield and Charlie (Sandy) Clay of Hamilton; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Allen) Thompson of Hamilton and Judy Marlow of Spring Hill, Florida; special nephew Aaron Moore; six grandchildren; and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leroy Hancock; and a sister, Wilma Taylor.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Paul Mullins and Rev. Billy Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
