James W. Hansmann, age 84 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 3:25 PM. He was born in Hamilton on May 12, 1924 the son of Ferd and Virgie (Brandenburg) Hansmann. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1944. He was employed as a building maintenance supervisor at West Side and Dollar Federal, and at St. Ann’s Catholic School in Groesbeck, retiring in 1986. On October 24, 1975 in Hamilton he married Ruth (Harding) Beckman, and she preceded him in death in 2006.
He is survived by a son, James (Julie) Hansmann of Dillsboro, Indiana; two daughters, Virginia (Clarence) Offner of Palm Bay, Florida and Trudy (Johnny) Hughes of Stegar, Illinois; two stepsons, Douglas (Nancy) Beckman of Hanover Township and Dale (Bonnie) Beckman of Hamilton; a stepdaughter, Jo Ellen (Rick) Moyers of Hamilton; five sisters; one brother; 7 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Wendell Coning of Hamilton Dream Center officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
