James Herbert Lewis

James Herbert Lewis, age 78, a longtime resident of Hamilton, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 23, 2007. He was born November 27, 1928 in Splint (Harlan County), Kentucky the son of Allen Cleo Lewis and Arrena (Parker) Lewis. On March 15, 1949 in Harlan, Kentucky, he married Margaret (Jones) Lewis. Herbert was a member of the Millville Avenue Church of God for the past forty years and served as a Sunday School teacher for fifty-two years. He retired in 2001 from Dynamics, Incorporated of Cincinnati as a tool and machine operator.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lewis; three daughters, Ida Mae (Alex) Allen of Hamilton, Phyllis (Bill) Isaacs of Liberty Township, and Sue (Rocky) Alt of Westerville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jim (Kathie) Bundy, Angie (Randy) Goins, Tina (Rob) Imhoff, Traci (Dave) Bleedorn, Billy Isaacs, and Brian (Donna) Alt; fourteen great-grandchildren, Brandy (Sam) Burden, Holly Bundy, Lanna Therrien, Jennifer Therrien, Zachary Therrien, William Osborne, Nikki Goins, Tanner Bleedorn, Taylor Bleedorn, Logan Alt, Lauren Alt, Landon Alt, Lexis Alt, and Lindsey Alt; one great-great-granddaughter, Trinity Burden; three brothers, Owen (Eunice) Lewis, Ralph (Judy) Lewis, both of Hamilton, Jack (Pat) Lewis of Wilmington, Ohio; and three sisters, Joyce Wilder of Hamilton, Dale (Bob) Mitzel of Liberty, Indiana, and Carol Lewis of Harlan, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Clyde Wilder.

Funeral service will be held at the Millville Avenue Church of God, 1369 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Sherdan Hall and Rev. Frank Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in the Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
