James B. Herndon

James B. Herndon, age 75, of Hamilton, passed away at University Hospital, Cincinnati on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 6:58 PM. He was born in Hamilton on December 22, 1932 the son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Warwick) Herndon. Jim was a 1951 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School, a veteran of the Korean War with the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, and was employed at Armco Steel for 40 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, and was active with the North Fairfield Baptist Church Ministries and a leader of Ministries at Woodridge Retirement Community. He is survived by two daughters, Lynn (John) Denney of Hamilton, and Lynda Herndon of Queens, New York; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Ian Denney. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 10 AM with Rev. Mark Wilson, pastor of North Fairfield Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 PM to 8 PM. A graveside service will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery with Fr. Michael Pucke officiating.
