James Holland

James Holland, age 82 of New Miami passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 2:11 PM. He was born in Hamilton on July 18, 1926 the son of Malvin and Mildred (Retherford) Holland. James was employed as an assembler at Mosler Safe Company for 38 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Greenhills United Baptist Church. On July 26, 1947 in Newport, Kentucky he married Mary Alice Settles who preceded him in death in 2006.

He is survived by two sons, Daniel (Rebecca) Holland of Metamora, Indiana and Gregory (Brenda) Holland of Fairfield; four daughters, Charlotte Rogers of New Miami, Marcia (Larry) Anglin of New Miami, Robin (Everett) Hunter of Fairfield, and Angie (Terry) Abrams of Fairfield; four brothers, Earl (Janet) Holland of New Miami, George (June) Holland of Hamilton, Dee (Judy) Holland of Manchester, Kentucky, and Bobby (Vanessa) Holland of Brookville, Indiana; four sisters, Rebecca (Frank) Bowling of Tennessee, Phyllis (Ray) Hubbard of Fairfield, Velma (Carl) Bell of Hamilton, and Shirley Hibbard of New Miami; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Mitch Rogers in 2004; and three sisters, Eula Atwell, Verna Lee, and Emma Christine.

Funeral service will be held at Greenhills United Baptist Church, 2087 Fenton Street, Williamsdale, on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Tim Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to the church or Hospice of Cincinnati.
