James G. Parker, age 69 of Fairfield Township passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. He was born in Bulan, Kentucky on July 21, 1940 the son of James Walter and Mabel (Blankenship) Parker. After graduation from Fairfield High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Lunsford on June 18, 1960. James volunteered his time and talents to those who needed a helping hand, touching the lives of all who knew him. He was passionately committed to his church, Tuley Road Church of the Nazarene, where he worked organizing events for the youth group. Throughout the last 50 years, James wore many hats in the church. He was a coach, Sunday School teacher, Superintendent, member of the Board and sang in the choir. James volunteered as a driver for children who were otherwise unable to attend Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by The General Church of the Nazarene on Sept. 10, 2006. James was a Kentucky Colonel. He was employed at Ford Motor Co., Sharonville, for 35 years retiring in 1998. He was a member of Local #863. He enjoyed being a volunteer EMT and firemen with his son for Fairfield Township. He received his Brown Belt along with his brother Sam in Tai Kwan Do. James loved spending time with his family, traveling, camping, and fishing. Following his retirement he and his wife, Joan spent time doing what they loved most: traveling the country together.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Lunsford) Parker; son, Doug (Lisa) Parker; and daughter, Kim Reynolds (fiancée Ronnie Stewart). James was a wonderful grandfather to Amanda and Nathan Parker, and Nicholas and Shelby Reynolds. He is much loved by his only brother, Sam (Wilma) Parker as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Nick Reynolds. James is mourned by all his extended family and a host of friends, who will remember him most for his kindness to all.
Funeral service will be held at the Tuley Road Church of the Nazarene, 1815 Tuley Road, on Monday April 12th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Randy Sapp and Rev. Ron Stewart officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5 PM. Memorial donations may be sent to Tuley Road Church of the Nazarene. The family extends a special thank you to Larry Roberts, the staff of Birchwood Care Center, especially Stacy Mauceri, and the staff of Hospice of Cincinnati for the special care of our loved one.
