James M Powell

James M Powell, age 95 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Thursday, July 18, 2013. He was born in Big Hill, KY on October 19, 1917 to Joseph and Lucinda (Jones) Powell. On May 11, 1956 in Booneville, KY he married Viola Turner, and they were married for 57 years. James retired from Fisher Body in 1976 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Hueston Southern Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Powell; seven children, James Herbert Powell, Dessie Mae Kerr, Alene (David) McFarland, Marlene Bailey, John (Catherine) Williamson, Mark "Joe" (Viola) Powell, and Winona (Norman) Shope; a sister, Hazel Downard of Laurel, IN; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; special niece, Debbie Kuhlenbeck; and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and six sisters.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Richard Huff and Brother Don Roberts of Hueston Southern Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of James to Hospice of Hamilton.
