James R. Rogers

James R. Rogers, age 77 of St. Clair Township passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Thursday, April 2, 2009. He was born in Hamilton on December 26, 1931 the son of Thomas S. and Effie Pearl (Crouch) Rogers. Jim was a 1950 graduate of Seven Mile High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 as an air policeman. After an honorable discharge from the service, Jim worked for his brother at Clayton Rogers Plumbing as a serviceman for 34 years. In 1989, when the business was sold, he then went into business for himself, known as Jim Rogers Plumbing until he retired in 2005. On August 25, 1952 in Roswell, New Mexico he married Doris Gabbard. For over 40 years he enjoyed visiting with all the gang every morning at Red’s Hamburger Restaurant in New Miami and was an original member of the liar’s table.

Jim is survived by his wife, Doris Rogers; three daughters, Linda Stitzel of Somerville, Susan Rogers of Trenton, and Kathy (Mike) Schneider of Liberty Township; four granddaughters, Rachel (Bill) Laderer of Columbus, Ohio, Elizabeth Stitzel of Cincinnati, and Kristen and Ali Schneider of Liberty Township; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Isabel, and Rylee of Columbus; a brother, Clayton Rogers of Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews, including devoted nephews, T.C. Rogers of West Chester and William C. Rogers, DDS, of Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence "Babe" Rogers and Robert Rogers; and a son-in-law, Erick Stitzel. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 with the Honorable Randy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
