James P. "Raz" Rasnick, age 85 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 2:04 AM. He was born in Appalachia, Virginia on January 13, 1927 the son of Floyd C. and Glenna (Quillen) Rasnick. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1945 to 1946 and was employed at Chrysler Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1977.
He is survived by three children, Rhonda (Robert) Bradford of Townsend, Delaware, James (Kendra) Rasnick Jr., and Ty (Vickie) Rasnick, both of Liberty Township; one sister, Edna Leugers of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Michael, Robby, Mikayla, Peyton, Tyler, and Micah; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his devoted nephew, Richard Leugers. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Ray, Roy, Howard, and Jack Rasnick, and Mable Rainey.
Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 5:00 PM until time of service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Barry Clardy, Pastor of Princeton Pike Church of God officiating. Visitation will also be held on Sunday from 12:00 noon until time of service at 1:00 PM at Gilliam Funeral Home, 613 Wood Street, Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Burial will be in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
