James "Jim" S. Rogers

February 24, 1934 — May 12, 2012

James "Jim" S. Rogers passed away at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his loving family, on May 12, 2012, after a short illness. He was born in Cincinnati on February 24, 1934. Jim leaves to mourn his loss, three daughters: Vickie Scott, Tammy Fritzsche, Lori (Tom) Vosberg and a son, James S. Rogers. He also leaves two sisters: Ruby Lickert and Ginger Ware and one brother, Roy Rogers. Jim further leaves eight grandchildren: Brandon (Laura) Scott, Mandy (Kyle) Smith, Jennifer (Tony) Capo, Kristina (Jeremy) Pendergest, Samantha (Mike) Fritzsche, Brittany (Shawn) Turner, Christopher Vosberg and Kelcie Rogers, eight great-grandchildren, the mother of his children-- Doreen (John) Grosse and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim proudly served his country as a US Navy solider during the Korean War from 1951-1954. He was awarded a Korean Service Medal, a Korean Presidential Unit Citation and served on the USS Merrick. Jim was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed horse-racing, playing poker and reading Stephen King novels. When Jim was 16 he won a Golden Glove Award for being the Best Boxer in Butler County. He worked at Champion Paper Co. for many years and ended his career working for Control Center of Cincinnati.

Jim was a man of few words as demonstrated whenever anyone asked him how he was doing—he always answered, "Things are copasetic." Jim is surely wanting everyone who loved him throughout his life to know that upon his death—"Things are still copasetic" as he waits to embrace all of those who have preceded him in death: Jim’s mother and father—Oma and Walter Rogers, sister Dorothy Reece, brother Christopher and brother-in-law Pat Ware.
