James E. Saylor Sr.

James E. Saylor Sr., age 82 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 7:20 AM. He was born in Hamilton on May 18, 1929 the son of William and Sylvia (Alexander) Saylor. James was employed as a maintenance foreman at SOS for 39 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church. James coached East Hamilton Little League for 13 years, Little Pro Football for 6 years, and was a 20-year supporter of Fairfield High School athletics. On September 1, 1948 in Covington, Kentucky he married Mabel E. Rowland.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mabel K. Saylor of Hamilton; four children, Michael (Peggy) Saylor, James "Jim" (Brenda) Saylor, both of Hamilton, Jeffrey Saylor of Fairfield, and Nellie (Ed) Couch of Brookville, Indiana; two brothers, Kenneth (Mary Lou) Saylor of Hamilton and Hobert (Gerry) Saylor of Fairfield; four sisters, Genevieve (Hobert) Combs of Fairfield Township, Dorothy Hinkle of Liberty Township, Patricia (J.C.) Miller and Linda Frederick, both of Fairfield Township; 9 grandchildren, Claudia, Julie, Kate, Kevin, Jeremy, Richie, Kelsee, Ryan and Brad; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Richard Saylor and Robert Saylor; and three brothers, Albert Saylor, Howard Saylor, and Frank Saylor.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Ron Pittman of Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
