James D. Smedley

James D. Smedley, age 69 of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. James was born in Hazard, Kentucky on April 28, 1952 to John Henry Smedley and Marie Helen (Lucas) Smedley. He was married to Sherry (Ballew) Smedley; and she preceded him in death in 2006.  James enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, fishing, drawing, and his cats, Meathead, Blue Eyes, Snowflake, and Sissy. James is survived by his three children, Shajuana (Paul) Thomas, James Smedley, Jerrett Smedley; his four grandchildren, Tayler, Jillian, Ethan, and Landen; his two great grandchildren, Adrianna and Lacey; one brother, John Smedley; and many other family and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents; John Henry Smedley and Marie Helen Smedley; one brother, Jerry Smedley; and one sister, Bette Baker. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
