James B. Stewart

God called home one of his most humble servants James B. Stewart on June 2, 2016. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by His loved ones. He was born March 27, 1923 in Manchester Kentucky to John and Myrtle (Webb) Stewart. James was a devout Christian who dedicated his life to his family and church Pater Avenue Free Pentecostal Church of God. James played guitar and sang, giving His wonderful testimony of God’s goodness and salvation at many area churches. God blessed his first marriage with Anna Lois Sams with four children; Linda (deceased) (Kenneth) Croucher, Jan Bollenbach, Glenn (Joyce) Stewart and Lisa (Jim) Anderson, and grandchildren; Jeff (Lisa) Croucher, Kyle (Kari) Croucher, Michael (Iryna) Lunsford, Blaine (Storm) Bollenbach, Deanna (Chris) Evans, Glenn Jr. (Ashley) Stewart, and Daniel Anderson. James married Gracie Barker Stewart and they were married 39 years. He was a devoted stepfather to Robert (Elsa) Barker, Roy (Peggy) Barker and Sheila Barker.They shared many wonderful grandchildren James (Kim) Robertson, Rick Barker, Ray H. Barker, Shelly Venerable, Sherry Barker and Robert (Bobby) Barker Jr. James also had 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. James was a caring brother to Roy Stewart and Stella Hyde. James served honorably in the 1st Armored Division (Combat Engineer)during WWII. He fought in 5 major campaigns from Africa to Italy. He retired from Mosler Safe Company after 39 years of service. He also worked at Tom’s Cigar store many years after his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Gracie Stewart, daughter Linda Croucher, step grandson Roy H Barker, step granddaughter Sherry Barker, siblings Richmond Stewart, Jarmon Stewart, Bessie Barger, Beulah Amis and John C Stewart. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to family and friends who showed Dad love and support. We would also like to thank Hospice of Cincinnati nurses who treated Dad with tenderness, respect and care during his final journey helping us fulfill Dad’s wishes to remain in his home. A special thank you to Aunt Stella who stood by her brother until his journey was finished. Dad was recently asked what means the most in his life, and he replied, "serving God and my family." Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 6, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. with Pastor Denny Matheny and Pastor Alan Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 noon at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Cincinnati. Condolences may be sent to www.browndawsonflick.com
