James "Red" Thomas

James "Red" Thomas, age 84 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 4:10 AM. He was born in Knox County, Kentucky on November 1, 1927 the son of Tip and Ethel (Cheek) Thomas. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed as a Foreman at H.P. Duescher for 25 years, retiring in 1990. On October 11, 1952 in London, Kentucky he married Elsie Jean Brice.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Jean Thomas of Hamilton; a son, Timothy Thomas of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Timothy James Thomas, Crystal Faith Thomas, and Shannon Kaye Thomas; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Shelby Thomas; and three sisters, Lela Marion, Anna Marie Johns, and Lois Harris.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 12:30 PM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
