James Edward "Old Man" Whitaker, age 67 of New Miami passed away at his residence on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 4:55 AM. He was born in Ricetown, Kentucky on February 4, 1940 the son of James Ted and Minnie Lou (Taylor) Whitaker. James was employed as a heavy equipment operator at American Material. On October 9, 1958 in Maysville, Kentucky he was married to Fay Mann.
He is survived by his wife, Fay Whitaker of New Miami; five sons, James (Margie) Whitaker of Vine Grove, Kentucky, Timothy (Lisa) Whitaker of Trenton, Eddie (Margaret) Whitaker of Lebanon, Mark (Missy) Whitaker of Oxford, and Andrew (Robin) Whitaker of New Miami; a daughter, Shannon Whitaker of New Miami; three brothers, Donnie (Missy) Whitaker of Georgetown, Roger Whitaker, and Kenny Whitaker, both of Mt. Orab; three sisters, Renne (Gary) Haney of Mt. Orab, Judy Liming of Florida, and Theresa Wallace of Cleveland; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Billy, Ronnie, Jerry, and Mike Whitaker; two sisters, Jean Hamilton and Bonnie Fetters; and a grandson, Tyler Adam Whitaker.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 12:00 noon with Chaplain Dennis Betts of Vitas Hospice officiating. Cremation will be held. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
