James R. Abrams

James Ray Abrams, age 86 of Somerville, passed away at Woodland Country Manor on Saturday, February 4, 2023. Jim was born in Floyd Co, KY on November 30, 1936 to Oscar and Sudie (Johnson) Abrams. Jim retired from the Laborers Union Local 534 after 37 years. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, had a love for animals and spending time with his family, his neighbor, Willis Allen, and his little dog on the porch.

Jim is survived by his children, Jimmy (Delores), Ronnie (Heather), Lydia Wells (Mark), Lora (Brian) Gillespie and Steve (Christy); his grandchildren Tausha, Alisha, Mindy, Ashley, Aris, Shelby, Chris, Bobbi, Kyle, Zach, Shelby Lynn, Logan, Gracie and Alex; 32 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and his siblings, Odell (Kathy) and Gail. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Barbara Sue Abrams; and his sister, Phyllis Abrams.

Funeral service will be held at Somerville Community Church, 207 S. Walnut Road, Somerville, Ohio, on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Josh Steele officiating.  Burial will follow at Somerville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Somerville Community Church.
