Jan F. Poynter

Jan F. Poynter, age 82 of Hamilton, passed away at Woodland Country Manor, after a long battle with MS, on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Jan was born in Hamilton, Ohio on November 14, 1935 to Elzie "Sing" Poynter and Mae (Turner) Poynter. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving from 1953-1956. Jan worked at Champion International Paper Company as a Chief Dispatcher in the Trucking Division. He loved boating, especially house boating on Lake Cumberland.

Jan is survived by two children; Janna (Kent) McCormick and Timothy (Sally) Poynter; five grandchildren, Nicholas McCormick, Jack McCormick, Kristin (Artem) Lavrinovich, Matthew Poynter, Kenny Poynter; two great grandchildren, Alexander and Anastasia. Jan was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held today Wednesday November 22, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 171 Washington St., Hamilton, Ohio at 10:00 AM with Fr. Jeff Silver celebrant. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
