Janice Proffitt

PROFFITT, Janice L. (Reece) passed peacefully on April 28, 2018 at Berkeley Square. She was born January 1, 1936, and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1953. On June 20th of the same year, she married Arthur C. Proffitt, beginning a lifelong adventure that led her to Michigan, Europe, and Wyoming, before returning to Ohio.

Janice was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are her beloved husband of almost 65 years, two children, Anne (Michael) Goulish and Philip C. (Kimberly) Proffitt, and one granddaughter, Melanie Goulish. Also surviving are many dear members of her extended family including Gracie (Joe) Goebel, Roy Proffitt, Troy (Donna) Proffitt, Rusty (Kathy) Proffitt, and Doris Reece, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to being involved in Bible studies, she was an avid reader, and she enjoyed playing bridge, walking, and biking. She was also a very caring person, always willing to lend a helping hand, and she volunteered for hospital organizations and the PTO. Most of all, though, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and there was always a freshly-baked treat on her kitchen counter, just in case someone happened to stop by.

Jan was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Chadwell Angel, and her brother, Robert Reece.

Visitation will be 10:00-11:00AM on May 1 at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. Service at 11:00AM. Burial at Millville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Cincinnati.
