Janice S. Sergent

Janice Sue Sergent, age 67 of Hamilton passed away at Berkeley Square on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 10:50 PM. She was born in Yolyn, West Virginia on November 3, 1941 the daughter of Squire and Naomi (O’Brien) Hall. Janice was employed as a waitress at Hickory Hut and Mamaw’s Restaurant for more than 20 years. She was a member of Hamilton Church of God, and was blessed with numerous devoted friends. Janice was loved by everyone who ever met her. In 1960 in Cocoa Beach, Florida she married William E. Sergent, and he preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by a son, Patrick R. Sergent, who meant the world to her; her parents, Squire and Naomi Hall; a brother, Bill Hall; and a sister, Garnet Fleming.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Paula (Paul) Allen of Hamilton; a granddaughter who was her pride and joy, Christina Wright of Hamilton; a great-granddaughter, Lexi Belle Hibbard (Granny’s baby girl) of Hamilton, who she loved with all her heart; four sisters, Sandra Kay Preece, Patty Tanner, both of Logan, West Virginia, Opal (Howard) McGinnis of McConnell, West Virginia, and Betty (Roger) Desplaines of Titusville, Florida; her devoted loving companion, Doug Hughes and his family; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends from both her’s and William’s sides of the family.

Funeral service will be held at the Hamilton Church of God, 1760 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Alan Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Berkeley Square, Dr. Gregory Savage, Dr. Richard Sternberg, and Dr. Edward Crane and their staffs for all their care and support.
