Janie Christine Collins

Janie Christine Collins, age 80 of Hamilton, left this Earth to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, 2015. She was born in Jackson Co., KY on May 13, 1934 to Banford and Bessie (Garrett) Johnson. Janie was a loving mother and grandmother, and will always be remembered for her love and passion for children. Having run a babysitting service for over 40 years she loved and cherished all of her babies she watched over the years. Janie was a member of the Oxford Pentecostal Church and served as a Sunday school teacher over the years. She loved her children, cooking, gospel music and had a beautiful singing voice.

Janie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Dewey Collins. She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Lisa) Collins, Darius (Patricia) Collins, and daughter Mary Lou (Joe) Tellup; seven grandchildren, Stevie Collins, Crystal (Chad) Joiner, Isaac Tellup, Christina (Brandon) McCoy, John Wayne (Kelsey) Unzicker, and Elizabeth and Samuel Collins; four great grandchildren, Madison and Riley Unzicker and Jason and Carmen McCoy; three sisters, Edith Lunsford, Colene Gray, and Georgia Abrams, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, John Jacob; and three brothers, Denver Johnson, Luther Johnson, and Noble Johnson.

Funeral service will be held at Oxford Pentecostal Church on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 10AM with Rev. Albert Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 5PM-8PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home 1350 Millville Ave.
