Janie Howard

Janie Howard, age 74, of Hamilton, passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Friday January 29, 2010. She was born in London, Kentucky on April 1, 1935 the daughter of Tice R. and Gracie H. (Hubbard) Sturgill. On August 23, 1952 in Williamsburg, Kentucky she married Franklin Howard who passed away on September 14, 1993. Janie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by three sons, Doug, Dale (Kim), and Mike (Crystal) Howard; five daughters, Debbie, Pearl (Mark), and Doris Howard, Karla Saurber, and Kay (Marvin) Davidson all of Hamilton; 14 grandchildren, Jeff, Brandy, Jessie, Danny, Ann, Chris, Lyndsey, Amber, Brandon, Ashley, Shelby, Trevor, James, and Emilee; 10 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Samantha, Hayley, Lexie, Alyssa, Kayty, Kenna, Kari, Kylie, and Sophie; three brothers, Raymond, Elmer, and Donnie Sturgill; four sisters, Mildred Brock, Hettie Taulbee, Shirley Ratliff, and Phyllis Genten; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Larry Wayne and Andrew Sturgill; two sisters, Juanita Harris and Vercie Parson; a son-in-law, Bill Saurber; a grandson, Jason Howard; and a great-grandaughter, JayLynn.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., on Tuesday, Feb. 2nd at 12 noon with Pastor Johnny Wade Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 12 noon.
