Jean P. Baker, age 86 of Hamilton passed away in Westover Retirement Community on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 7:53 AM. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky on May 25, 1922 the daughter of Swannie and Ada (Brown) Price. Jean was employed in the meat department for Marsh Supermarket for twenty-two years, retiring in 1984. On June 19, 1941 in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky she was married to Elmer "Russ" Baker.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Elmer "Russ" Baker of Hamilton; two sons, Russell Keith (Nelda) Baker of Quinlan, Texas and David Lee (Debbie) Baker of Hamilton; three daughters, Shirley (Jim) McWhorter, Sandy K. Langdon, and Mary (Danny) Clark, all of Hamilton; and also fourteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Swannie Lee Price; and one sister, Mary Falin.
Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, September 15, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mike Callihan, Pastor of the Living Word Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Westover’s administration and staff for their kindness and generosity, a special thank you for the loving care from Vitas Hospice and Berkeley Square and a very special thank you to Dr. Richard Sternberg.
