FETHERLAND, Jean Ann, age 91, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Jean was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on May 3, 1930, to the late James E. and Nancy (Logan) Fugate. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William M. Fetherland, son Patrick W. Fetherland, son-in-law Peter Cholkas, and siblings Mildred Henderson, James “Buddy” Fugate, Dorothy Butts, Louise “Weezy” Fugate, Elmer Fugate, and Eileen Vicena. Jean is survived by her daughters Amy Cholkas of Cincinnati, Ohio and Susan (Charles) Blalock of Tyler, Texas, grandchildren Mandy Pack (Dallas) Winkler, of Hamilton , Ohio, Jason (Julie) Fetherland, of Fairfield, Ohio, Rebecka Lonsberry, of Longview, Texas, Joshua (Stephanie) Fetherland, of Wichita, Kansas, Justin (Shelby) Fetherland, of Wilmer, Alabama, Charles (Melissa) Walker, of San Antonio, Texas, Angela Roberts, of Liberty, Kentucky, Agnes Cholkas (Mark Bingle), of Cincinnati, Ohio, George (Michelle) Cholkas of Ross, Ohio, Maria Butler of Cincinnati, Ohio and sisters-in-law, Carol Truster of Seven Mile, Ohio and Violet Fugate (and son Ian) of Sunnyvale, CA . She also leaves behind many loved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family members. She shared a special bond with her granddaughter, Mandy Winkler and her husband, Dallas , great-grandsons Brody, Braxton, and Liam, granddaughter, Becky Lonsberry, greatgranddaughters Camy and Brynna, nephew and niece, Robin and Jodi Vicena and great niece and nephew, Olivia and Henry. Jean enjoyed lifelong friendships with Mary “Mitzi” Jones, Josephine “Josie” Schlembach and neighbors the Lynn family. She also shared close friendships with church family members Ruth Liming, Blanche Walker, Eloise Fowler, Cindy Kingery, and many others. Jean and “Bill”, her husband of 42 years, raised three children in their home in Fairfield, Ohio. As a family, they planted vegetable and flower gardens, enjoyed backyard cookouts, played cards, vacationed at Hueston Woods and celebrated birthdays and holiday traditions. Later in life, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled “GG’s” days with joy and hope for the future. Jean worked for 30 years at the Fairfield City Schools, retiring as Food Service Manager at the Fairfield Intermediate School in 2000. She loved working with the special staff and students in her community. Jean was a member of the North Seventh Street Church of Christ in Hamilton and a founding member of Fairfield Church of Christ and Community Christian Church in Fairfield Township. She served as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, and church choir member. She also established a “Comfort Care Bears” ministry for cancer patients at CCC and in her later years continued to bake homemade cookies and bread for the Welcome Center. She will be loved and greatly missed forever or “forty ‘leven” years…whichever is longer. Visitation will be held at The Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue on Sunday, March 20, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00PM with a memorial service immediately following by Pastor Scott Swelbar of Community Christian Church. Burial will take place on Monday, March 21 at 10:00AM at Rose Hill Burial Park. Donations in memory of Jean can be made to the Community Christian Church, 3401 Millikin Road, Hamilton, OH 45011.
