Jeff "Big Brother" Simmons

Jeff "Big Brother" Simmons, Sr., age 78 of Madison, Mississippi passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospice Unit on Sunday, May 20, 2007. He was born in Madison, Mississippi on October 28, 1928 the son of Jeff and Ozzie (Lewis) Simmons. He was a member of Bennis Chapel since 1940 and was an employee of Ford Motor Company for 34 years. Jeff enjoyed life.

A dedicated father and grandfather, he is survived by his children, Jeff Simmons, Jr.; Alisha Simmons, Lakisha Simmons, Thyllus Hughes, Nicole Hopkins, Charles Hopkins, and Celeste Hopkins; eleven grandchildren, Allante, Jamya, Elijah, Eshawn, Susie, Emmanuel, Talitha, Solomon, Samuel, Nikki, and Nellie Ann; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nellie German of Detroit, Michigan and Pauline Clark of Madison, Mississippi; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, Jessie Simmons; and three sisters, Louella Agee, Fannie Mae Simmons, and Anne Simmons.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, May 25, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to family and friends and a special thank you to the staff of Vitas Hospice for their care and concern.
