It is with deep love and endless gratitude for a life richly lived that we celebrate the incredible journey of Jerry Ross, who passed away on August 4, 2026. Born in Houston, Texas, on May 6, 1967, Jerry spent his growing-up years exploring Texas, California, and Oregon. He went on to graduate from CU Boulder with a degree in criminology before following his passion for detailed craftsmanship as a skilled gunsmith at Rocky Mountain Arms.

Jerry was simply larger than life. Cool, charismatic, and endlessly kind, he possessed a magnetic energy that drew people in instantly—to know Jerry was to love him from the very first minute you met him.

A true Renaissance man with a deep curiosity about the world, he was a lifelong learner who seemed to know a little bit about everything. Whether he was playing blues guitar like an absolute legend, diving into a complex documentary, or setting off on a mini-adventure with his wife, Francine—usually centered around discovering a great new restaurant and enjoying a perfect steak—Jerry lived with passion and purpose.

His adventures were legendary, including a decade in the Marshall Islands where he owned and operated Bako Divers, making unforgettable memories and forging deep, lasting friendships all across the globe. It was there, in true Jerry style, that he married the love of his life, Francine, in an underwater ceremony in Majuro Lagoon on March 11, 2001. In 2007, they moved to Francine’s hometown of Fairfield, Ohio, where they made their home and built a beautiful life together for the rest of his days.

A natural storyteller, Jerry loved nothing more than holding court with a long, captivating story, generously sharing his wisdom, humor, and sharp wit with anyone lucky enough to pull up a chair. His heart was as big as his personality, and his incredible warmth and loyalty made him a rock for everyone in his orbit.

Above all, Jerry’s greatest joy was his family. He was an extraordinary, devoted husband to Francine, a fiercely loyal friend, and an amazing father. His door was always open, and he naturally became a cherished second father, advisor, and source of support to his kids’ friends. He shared an unbroken bond with his sister and best friend, Laura—speaking with her every single day—and was the ultimate cool, devoted uncle.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Paula, and his soul dog, Scout.

Jerry’s vibrant legacy of kindness, laughter, and wisdom lives on through his father, David; his sister Laura; his wife, Francine; his children, Mitchell and Paula; his nieces, Stephanie and Hannah; his nephew, Stuart; his brothers-in-law, Michael and Steve; his sweet little dog, Bako; and an endless circle of friends worldwide who were better for knowing him.

An epic celebration of life will be held to honor Jerry’s unforgettable memory; details will follow as soon as plans are finalized.
