Jesse L. Mays, age 75 of Hamilton passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 7:42 AM. He was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on January 10, 1936 the son of Jesse and Emma (Eversole) Mays. He was employed as a plater and polisher at Mosler Safe Company for 36 years, retiring in 1985. Jesse was a member of New Liberty United Baptist Church and the Coon Hunter’s Club. On January 1, 1969 in Hamilton he married Barb S. Garrett.
He is survived by his wife, Barb S. Mays of Hamilton; six children, Mark Cline, Lisa Carrell, and Jesse (fiance Brandi Jones) Mays, all of Hamilton, Meledy Affrunti, Larry (Donna) Mays, and Vicky Zane, all of New Jersey; one sister, Irene (Fred) Schilling of Hamilton; ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Leslie, General, and James Mays, Nancy Van Winkle, Gladys Abrams, Pauline Diesbach, and Alfreda Parsley.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Denny Fields of New Liberty United Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Cremation will be held at a later date.
