Jesse W. Thompson

Jesse Thompson, age 87, died June 25, 2014, peacefully, at Woodlands of Hamilton Assisted Living. Born in Hamilton Ohio, August 2, 1926, he graduated from Hamilton High. Jesse married Rosa Maupin April 29, 1944, they remained married for 62 years until her death in 2007. He was a devoted husband and cared for her during her years of declining health. He served during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Amvets, a member of the Monkeys and Eagles. He was employed by Champion Papers for 41 years, where he was very active in serving as Financial Secretary for the Local 1967. He was very proud to be on the 1937 Little League Championship Team and was a Little League Coach for his two sons and Champion Softball Coach for his daughter. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed watching most every kind of sport especially baseball and basketball.

Jesse and Rosie had 3 children, Tommy Thompson(Kathy), Gary Thompson(Shavonna), Tina Thompson Schanie(Wayne): eight grandchildren, Joey Thompson(Erin), Amy Yeager(Paul), Maria Schanie, Mandy Schanie, Trish Hisch(Dave), Andy Thompson, Lance Brock, Bree Brock; 9 great- grandchildren, Jesse and Eddie Thompson, Ben and Alex Yeager, Cory and Josie Hisch, Paula and Caitlin Thompson, Charlotte; 1great-great grandchild Alaya Jordan Thompson. He is preceded in death by his parents Steve and Alice Thompson, as well as six siblings, Burt Pence(Earl), Lil Harris(Albert), Emma Harris(John), Dorothy Rogers(Herbert), Flora Roger(Edward). Two living siblings remain, Abby Harris(Vincent) and Arnold Thompson(Retha), as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Jesse will leave many friends behind from Champion, Harold Winkler, Bob Young and especially Eddie Sapp, to whom we will always be grateful.

Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 6-8 PM, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at 11 AM at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Southwest Ohio, 7625 Camargo Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45243, or the Charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Woodlands of Hamilton, for his loving care during the time he spent there, as well as the Southwest Ohio Hospice Staff, who helped make his last days more comfortable and peaceful.
