Jewell Allen

Jewell Allen, age 90 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, May15, 2011 at 3:55 AM. She was born in Hazard, Kentucky on September 30, 1920 the daughter of Joe and Lula (Parks) King. Jewell was a member of Tylersville Road Church of God. On June 2, 1937 in Hazard, Kentucky, she married Rev. William E. Allen and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1985.

She is survived by four sons, James E. (Charlene) Allen of Somerville, Darrell Allen of Camden, Dennis R. (Lorenda) Allen of Hamilton, and Roger Dale (Marilise) Allen of Hamilton; four daughters, Lois Jean Willerson of Knoxville, Tennessee, Freda (Bud) Savage of Carlisle, Suzzette (Ralph) Jones of Hamilton, and Sharon Rose (Glenn Ballinger) Hamilton of Hamilton; one sister, Katherine Pezzini of Pinellas Park, Florida; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herbert, Willard, and Manford King; two sisters, Christine Church and Opal Engle; a grandson, John Michael Day; and daughter-in-law, Betty Allen.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Desi Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
