Jewell Campbell

Jewell Campbell, age 83 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 3:15 AM. She was born in Laurel County, Kentucky on April 9, 1924 the daughter of Charles Woods and Hannah (Durham) Vandeventer. Jewell attended Auburn Baptist Church. On February 22, 1947 in Covington, Kentucky she married Aubrey Julian Campbell, and he preceded her in death in 2005.

She is survived by three sons, James (Cindy) Campbell of Morgan Township, David (Mallie) Campbell of Brown County, Ohio, and Douglas (Melissa) Campbell of Hamilton; four daughters, Audrey (Boyd) Cheek of Eaton, Teresa (Tom) Serey of Hamilton, Cathy Wilson of Hamilton, and Debbie Glenn (Mike) Smith of Hamilton; two brothers, Curtis (Sadie) Vandenventer of Trenton and Gene (Vivian) Vandenventer of South Carolina; four sisters, Ventis Day of Alabama, Geneva (Ivan) Farthing of Hamilton, Lois (Bob) Webb of Fairfield, and Lorene (Bob) Hopper of Kentucky; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wilburn Vandeventer; two sisters, Juanita Vandeventer and Gladys Day; and a great-grandson, Christopher Balon.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Thomas Serey officiating. Burial will follow in Collinsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
