Jewels Pennington

Jewels E. Pennington, age 78 of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Jewels was born in Hazard, Kentucky on August 21, 1947 to Eldon Pennington and Edith (Sturgill) York. He loved the Lord, his family and his precious dog, Angel. Jewels graduated from New Miami High School in 1966 and went on to work at Champion Paper Company for over 30 years, where he was known as “Big G”. After Champion closed its doors, he worked at Tom’s Cigar Store until their closing, and he went on to retire from Walmart. Jewels was an avid sports enthusiast who loved the Cincinnati Reds and Kentucky Wildcat Basketball. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and reading the Bible. Jewels was known for his humor and telling people about the Lord.

Jewels is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cynthia Rhodis-Pennington; children, Kimberly Price and Brian (Ranae) Pennington; grandchildren, Robb (Amy), Brianna, Tyler, Jordan and Katrina; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Ariana, Zander, Parker and Eloise; special aunt, Kathleen; his beloved pets, Angel, Munch, OC, JackJack, and Boo; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jewels was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon Pennington and Edith York; siblings, Paul and Lisa; and his son-in-law, David.

Graveside service will be held at Hickory Flat Cemetery, 4464 Morganthaler Road, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 12:00 PM with Rev. Wendell Coning officiating. A celebration of life will immediately follow the graveside service.
