Jimmy W. "Hoss" Lunsford

Jimmy W. "Hoss" Lunsford, age 67 of Hamilton went home peacefully, after a long battle with Cancer, on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 6:10 AM from Fort Hamilton Hospital with his wife and kids by his side. He was born in Hamilton on August 8, 1941 the son of Virgil and Opal (Tillery) Lunsford. Jimmy was employed in advertising for Pepsi-Cola for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was also employed part time by Mercy Hospital for numerous years and took on a full time position with them after his retirement with Pepsi from 1991 thru 1997. Jimmy was a member of the First Bible Church; a Kentucky Colonel; an avid Kentucky Wildcats Fan; and was WMOH’s Man of the Day for two consecutive days for his time that he devoted for the youth in his neighborhood. He was one of the founders of the East Side T-Ball and Farm League at Crawford Woods where he coached Babe Ruth for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lornia Lunsford; three children, Dale (Susan Charles) Lunsford, Randall (Debbie) Sizemore, and JoAnn (Steve) Cox; five grandchildren, Stephanie and Aaron Sizemore, and Miranda, Kaitlyn and Cody Lunsford; special uncle, Harold Tillery; special friends, Glenn House, Don Mason, Little Mason; his loving dog, Bama; and numerous other friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Christopher Cox.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Terry Maynard of First Bible Church officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Drs. Timothy Brown and Paula Weisenberger and their staffs; Debbie Hyde and the rest of the staff at Fort Hamilton Hospital. Memorial contributions can be directed to the American Cancer Society.
