Joan Harbin, age 77, left this world peacefully on November 26, 2010, surrounded by her loved ones after a valiant battle with cancer. Joan was born July 17, 1933 to the late Roland and Catherine (Reidinger) Asher, Sr. Joan who grew up in Fairfield among a loving family lived her life with indomitable strength and integrity. She always greeted everyone with warmth, kindness and acceptance. She never forgot an old friend and was always open to making new friends. She will be missed but never forgotten. Joan resided in West Chester, Ohio.
Joan graduated from Fairfield High School in 1951 and was employed by ADP in Cincinnati for 34 years. She retired in 2002 as Director of Human Resources. Joan was married in 1953 to William Harbin who preceded her in death in 1979. Joan, in concert with Bill as Mayor of Fairfield from 1970-72, generously volunteered her time in the enhancement of Fairfield for its citizens.
Joan’s sons, Bill and Tom, along with their wives Joy and Lori, and granddaughters Anna, Alexis and Nicole have been the sole focus of her life. They have provided her a lifetime of love, happiness and fulfillment. Their accomplishments and triumphs have given her the greatest joy.
Joan was blessed in life with a wonderful family including two beloved sons Bill (Joy) Harbin of Fairfield, Ohio and Tom (Lori) Harbin of Omaha, Nebraska; Sisters Cathy (Steve) Landram of St. Cloud, Florida and Tanya (Mike)Vance of Hamilton, Ohio; Brothers Ron Asher, Jr. (Deceased) and Dennis (Linda) Asher of Fairfield, Ohio; Sister in law Janet Asher of Carmel, Indiana; Granddaughters Anna, Alexis and Nicole Harbin of Omaha, Nebraska; Nieces Candy (Pat) Rosenbauer of Bath, Pennsylvania; Amee (Randy) Cherubini of Carmel, Indiana; Catie Asher of Hamilton, Ohio; Nephews Robey Landram and Rhett Landram of St. Cloud, Florida; Jack (Faye) Parker of Middletown, Ohio. Of special recognition is Tanya Vance who devoted countless hours to the critical care of Joan. Funeral Service with Pastor Lew Davis will be held at the Tri County Baptist Church, 8195 Beckett Road, West Chester, Ohio, 45069 on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.
