John M. Cress

John M. Cress, age 92 of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 1:30 AM. He was born in Zoe, Kentucky on June 6, 1923 the son of Thomas and Etta (McIntosh) Cress. John retired from Mosler Safe Company after thirty-five years of service. He was a veteran of World War II with the United States Army from 1943 to 1946, where he served as a paratrooper during the Philippine Campaign. John was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. On October 26, 1946 in Newport, Kentucky he married Emma J. Halcomb.

He is survived by his wife, Emma J. Cress of Hamilton; two sons, Gary W. (Olivia) Cress of Franklin and John M. Cress of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Ryan (Cristi) Cress, Kari (Matt) Harmon, and Khristina T. Cress; four, great grandchildren, Brady Cress, Hannah Cress, Alex Cress, and Dylan Gray; and one brother, Herbert Cress. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 4601 Fairfield Avenue, on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Tammy Jo Reiser officiating. Entombment, with Military Honors, will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the church.
