John Patrick "Jack" Dobson, age 81 of Hamilton passed away at University Hospital on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 5:14 PM. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 1, 1927 the son of John H. and Kathleen (Dwyer) Dobson. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1945 to 1946. He was employed as a sales manager for R-L Polk for 18 years, retiring in 1989. Jack was a life member of BPOE #93 and the exalted ruler from 1976 to 1977, a member of VFW Post #7670, and a very active member of American Legion #138, holding many offices. On June 18, 1977 in Hamilton he married Alice Steffey.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Dobson of Hamilton; a son, Brian (Jeannine) Dobson of Oxford and his mother, Mary Ellen Elliott of Hamilton; a granddaughter, Victoria Dobson; loving family Wendy and Steve Booth of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Barb and Corliss Jameson of Oberhaid, Germany, Andrea and Charles Hangbers of Hamilton; Tina and William Jameson of Middletown, and Judy and Henry Harold of Oxford; and special friends Pat and Jerry McCormick of Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder Chapel, 1302 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Patrick Duffy, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the chapel on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Schroder Manor Benevolent Fund or to Animal Friends Humane Society, 5225 Trenton Road, Trenton, OH 45067-9501. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Mercy Franciscan at Schroder for their care and concern.
