John F. "Jack" Smith

John F. "Jack" Smith, age 79 of Hamilton passed away at Berkeley Square Special Care on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 12:36 AM. He was born in Riverside, Long Island, New York on May 19, 1928 the son of John Francis and Ann Marie (MacDonnell) Smith. Jack was a veteran of World War II from 1946-1947. He was employed as Vice President of Service Support for The Mosler Safe Company for 32 years, retiring in 1991. Jack was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Jaycees. On February 20, 1948 in New York he married Alice Elizabeth Walker who preceded him in death in 2002.

He is survived by five children, Kathleen Smith of Flagstaff, Arizona, John A. (Susan) Smith of Hamilton, Rob (Deborah) Smith of Hamilton, Kelly Ann (Rich) Fritsch of San Francisco, California and Connie (Bob) Hunter of Hamilton; 17 grandchildren, Michael, Kristi, John, Paul, Tracy, Jamie, David, Adam, Susan, Emily, Patrick, Alexis, Devri, Josh, Justin, Steven and Michelle; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ann Marie Rogan.

Prayers will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 9:15 AM with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stephen T. Badin High School or St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Berkeley Square Special Care for all their care and support.
