John Hensley

John M. Hensley, Age 83 of Hamilton, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on July 16, 1931, the son of the late Isam and Gracie (Grubb) Hensley. He was employed by Champion International as a Supervisor, retiring after 42 years of service in 1993.

He survived by his wife of 64 years, Colleen, two sons; Doug (Rita) and Larry (Debbie) and a daughter, Jennifer. John was also a grandfather of 3 and a great grandfather of 3. He leaves behind a sister, Mamie (Earl) Reed, numerous loving in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as many special friends, including long time caregiver Rana Collins and nurse Rita Shumate. He was preceded in death by his siblings Annie Grimes, Edith Pennington, Sara Evans, Louise Donley and Foster Hensley. John enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, camping, westerns and gospel music. A longtime member of the Princeton Pike Church of God, John served as an usher and greeter prior to his illness. Cheerful in all weathers, John always extended a helping hand to anyone in need. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge Fort Hamilton Hospital personnel and the staff of Hospice of Hamilton for their skill, kindness and compassion.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014, from 11 AM- 12 Noon, at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, with funeral service immediately following at 12 Noon at the funeral home with Pastor Barry Clardy and Pastor Ann Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery.
