John G. Johnson

John G. Johnson, age 87 of Harrison passed away at Shawnee Spring Health Care Center on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 10:22 PM. He was born in Hamilton on May 25, 1922 the son of Dib and Mattie (Johnson) Johnson. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was employed as a truck driver for Chatfield Paper Company for 32 years, retiring in 1987. John was a member of Ben Franklin #719 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati. On December 20, 1941 in Clay County, he married Alma Eversole, and she preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Edward (Darlene) Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri and Robert (Mary) Johnson of Cleves; a daughter, Linda Walden of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, Charlie, John, Annette, Lisa, and Amy; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Shirley Hibbard; two grandchildren, Robyn and Alma; a brother, James Johnson; and two sisters, Louise Hibbard and Lucille Johnson.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Pastor James Hundley of the Bible Baptist Fellowship Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
