John Joseph Kerr

April 24, 1931 — January 16, 2011

John Joseph Kerr, age 79 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 12:50 AM. He was born in Hamilton on April 24, 1931, the son of Joseph and Ruth (Stinson) Kerr. John was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. He was employed at Champion International as a cutter operator, retiring in 1993. John was a member of the Laurel Avenue Church of Christ. On November 30, 1957 in Jellico, Tennessee he was married to Nola Hill.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Nola Kerr of Hamilton; a daughter, Janice (John) Corder of Hamilton; a son, Wayne (Marie) Kerr of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Bill (Melissa) Davison of Florence, Kentucky, Andy Davison of Hamilton, Amanda (Kevin) Grathwohl of Trenton, Justin Kerr of Hamilton and Joshua Kerr of Hamilton; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Delilah Davison of Florence, Kentucky; a brother, Eldon (Ida) Kerr of Hamilton; a sister, Inez (Leman) Daniels of Trenton; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Charles Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
