John W. Lewis Sr.

John W. Lewis Sr., age 91, of Hamilton passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Hospice of Hamilton. Dad was born in Hamilton on November 20, 1927 a son of the late Earl Edford Lewis Sr. and Annis Faye (Felts) Lewis. On April 16, 1949, he was united into marriage to Carol Duggins, and to this union four children were born. Dad retired from Pease Ever Strait Doors after 43 years of service with perfect attendance and he was a former member of the Fairfield Community Church. Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing, decorating his home for Christmas and was a diehard fan of the Duke Blue Devils Basketball Team and enjoyed having his sweets. Dad is survived by his children; Joann (Ronnie) Lunsford, Nancy (Tom) Proffitt, and Wayne A. (Desaray Robinson) Lewis; eight grandchildren, Kevin Lewis, Kelly (Andy Altman) Lewis, Shelly Wooten, Cody and Ashley Proffitt, Connor, Coy, Chase Lewis; four great grandchildren, Mindy and Cody Wooten, Dillon and Justin Altman; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Lewis, Marlene Arminio, and Ginny Duggins; one brother-in-law, Richard Pfaffman; and many nieces and nephews. Dad was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; his son, John William Lewis Jr.; two brothers, Earl E. Lewis Jr. and Eddie (Margaret) Lewis; his brothers and sisters-in-law, George (Cynthia) Duggins, Everet (Dorothy) Duggins, Donald (Fern) Duggins, Cliff Duggins, Gladyse (Johnny) Rodgers, Joe Arminio, and Ruth Pfaffman. A special thanks to Shelly Wooten and Kevin Lewis for all of their support. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 1 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home 330 Pershing Ave. Hamilton OH, 45011 with Pastor Richard Sterwerf officiating.
