John W. Schmitt Sr.

John W. Schmitt Sr., age 89 of Hamilton, passed away at Westover Retirement Community on Thursday, April 20, 2017. John was born in Hamilton, Ohio on March 2, 1928 to George and Babette (Brendel) Schmitt. John graduated from Xavier University. He was instrumental at beginning the Union at Champion Paper. John enjoyed working in his garden and was a lifelong member of the Democratic Party. He was an active member at Queen of Peace Church.

John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marianne E. Schmitt; his children, Lisa Vennefron, John (Ann) Schmitt Jr., Theresa (Larry Lewis) Schmitt, Melinda (Tim) Motley, Mark (Melanie) Schmitt, Tina (Frederick) Deppe, 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; his brother, George Schmitt. John was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Dickerson and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2550 Millville Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Fr. James Wedig officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home 1350 Millville Ave. Hamilton, 45013.
