John Barry Smith

July 30, 1932 — April 22, 2016

John Barry Smith, age 83 of Hamilton, passed away at Berkeley Square Retirement Center on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 4:15 PM. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on July 30, 1932 the son of George and Regina (Barry) Smith. On June 26, 1965 in Columbus, Ohio he married Mary Ann Fenlon and she preceded him in death on June 12, 2012. He was a graduate of Bishop Rosecrans High School and Ohio University. Upon graduation he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant with the United States Air Force. John was employed as an architect for Citibank in New York City and then for the Mosler Safe Company for twenty-two years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church.

He is survived by three sons, Brian B. (Andrea) Smith and Gregory A. Smith, both of Hamilton, and Barry M. (Monica) Smith of Milford; three grandsons, Maxwell Barry Smith, Colin Martin Smith, and Sean Barry Smith, and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Ruth Broerman, Rita Richardson, and Robert Smith.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 224 Dayton St., on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Father Michael Pucke Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., on Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Badin High School General Scholarship Fund.
