John C. Stewart

John C. Stewart, age 92 of Hamilton, passed away at Doverwood Village on Thursday, July 3, 2014. He was born in Clay Co, Kentucky on August 27, 1921 to John and Myrtle (Webb) Stewart. John was a World War II U.S Army veteran, one of the "greatest generation," serving in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945. On March 29, 1947 in Cincinnati he married Nikola Goins. John was employed as a machinist at Baldwin-Lima, Hamilton Tool, and General Electric in Evendale, where he retired from after 18 years.

He is survived by his wife, Nikola Stewart; children, Donald Stewart, Debbie Cottingham, and Joy (Ben) Maggio; grandchildren, Maria, Angela, Ben, and John Maggio, and Steven (Amy) Cottingham; great-grandchildren, Breanna, Austin, and Donavin Cottingham; brothers, James and Roy (Princess) Stewart; and a sister, Stella (Hunter) Hyde. He was preceded in death by brothers, Richmond and Jarmon; sisters, Bessie and Beaulah; and his parents.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southwestern Ohio in his honor. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Southwestern Ohio for their care and compassion.
