John Lewis Stringer, age 80 of Hamilton, passed away at Heritage Springs Nursing Home on Tuesday July 8, 2025. He was born in New Miami, OH on December 16, 1944 to Thomas and Beatrice Stringer. John was quiet with a big personality. In his youth, he enjoyed playing football for New Miami High School and swimming at Booker T. Washington Community Center. John loved to work with his hands. He used this passion to support his family by working many years at AK Steel, doing masonry work and becoming an automotive technician. He was known as “Hook Bill” to many for his love of knives. In his spare time, John was fond of fishing and watching western movies. He prioritized his family over everything.
John is survived by his children, Khenika Stringer, Brenda Stringer, Pamela Stringer; his siblings, Leroy Stringer, Charles (Leslie) Stringer, Ronald Stringer, and many extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Beatrice Stringer; his children, Belinda Stringer and Johnny Stringer; and his siblings Diana Stringer and Gloria Stringer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 4:00 PM until the time of his Funeral Service at 6:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home - Historic Downtown Chapel, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, Ohio 45011.
