John W. Thyen

John W. Thyen, age 81 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Saturday, May 23, 2020. John was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 2, 1938 to John B. Thyen and Cecilia (Riegert) Thyen. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving from 1955 -1959. John worked 36 years as a Quality Manager at Southwestern Ohio Steel (SOS), retiring in 2001. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed boating, and loved being outdoors.

John is survived by his wife of 34 years, Arleen Thyen; three sons, John M. Thyen, Daniel (Erinn) Thyen, Eric (Debbie Olszowka) Thyen; 4 grandchildren, Seth, Luke, Ava, and Emma; his sisters, Charlotte (Carl) Kettman, Mary Ann Stillmaker, Celia (Ken) Koger; step children, Jennifer (Scott) Coughlin and Christopher Mertz; his step grandchildren, Alec, Taylor, Mackenzie, Ethan, Zachary, and Andrew. John was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Thyen and Cecilia (Riegert) Thyen; and one brother, Bernard Thyen.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at St. Stephens Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Hamilton, OH or the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
