John K. Wayne, age 89, of Hamilton, Ohio passed away peacefully at Hospice of Hamilton on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
John was born on April 13, 1936, in Richwood, West Virginia, to Kelly Wayne and Maudie Grace (Vannoy) Wayne. He graduated from Virginia Tech University and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. After his service, John built a long and successful career as a Mechanical Engineer at GE Aviation, retiring in 1999.
John’s passion for aviation extended well beyond his professional life—he built and flew three homebuilt airplanes, a testament to his skill, determination, and love of flight.
On October 7, 1961, John married the love of his life, Judy. Together they built a strong, lasting partnership grounded in love, faith, and mutual respect. Their marriage of almost 64 years was a true testament to devotion—not only to one another, but to the family they raised and cherished. John was a steady, determined presence who found his greatest joy in the family he so dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Maudie Grace Wayne. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Wayne; his three sons, John Wayne, Jeff Wayne, and Jim Wayne; and his cherished grandchildren: Sarah Carnes, Michael Wayne, Nick Wayne, Isaac Wayne, Allison Wayne, Rachel Wayne, and Luke Wayne.
John will be remembered for his sharp mind, resolute strength, and unwavering love for his family and aviation. His legacy lives on in the skies he loved and in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
